Technological Change

Technological change means engineers need to stay on top of new methods and advances to be able to keep relevant in tomorrow’s world. Engineers are capable of driving that change. With their technical training and some good soft skills, engineers can push their careers to the top and be the change their communities need.

An idea from the desert

The idea first came to me in February 2007 when I first moved to Abu Dhabi for work, only 7 months (and very fresh) out of uni. It was a hotbed of construction activity and excitement, with money being thrown at awe-inspiring projects all over the country. I was out of my depth, but reveled in it.

Find your path

Planning your career is not just something you do for your annual performance review. It is a deliberate act to take control of your career and mold it in a direction you want to go. It is a process of self-awareness and negotiation. Finding things you want to develop which are also open to you in your current situation. Testing different aspects and directions within the profession, and finding out where you want to be.
